Struggling with Cravings? It’s Not About Willpower…

Ever feel like you just can’t control your cravings—especially for sugar, carbs, or salty snacks?

You’ve probably told yourself:

❌ “I just have no willpower.”

❌ “If I could just stop eating junk, I’d lose weight.”

❌ “I’m addicted to sugar.”

But here’s the truth… Cravings aren’t about willpower

—> they’re about your body trying to tell you something.

✅ 1. You’re Under-Eating or Skipping Meals

If you go too long without eating, your blood sugar crashes, and your body craves quick energy—which usually means sugar, carbs, and processed foods. 

Fix it:

- It's ok to be hungry but you want to avoid being HANGRY! A great cadence is 3 meals a day spaced out roughly 3-4 hours a part. 

- Eat protein and nutrient-dense fiber fiber-rich foods at major meals (when possible) 

✅ 2. You’re Dehydrated

Did you know that thirst often feels like hunger? Many people snack because they’re actually just dehydrated.

Fix it:

- Aim for 50+ oz of water per day.

- HUGE TIP: If you feel hungry but recently ate, drink a glass of water first and wait 10 minutes.

✅ 3. You’re Tired or Stressed

When you’re exhausted or overwhelmed, your body craves quick dopamine hits—and food is the easiest way to get that.

Fix it:

- Prioritize sleep (7+ hours helps regulate hunger hormones). I know this might not be possible for everyone but it's a target to aim for. Also remember that the quality of your sleep has a LOT to do with food. More on this in tomorrow's email! STAY TUNED... 

- Instead of reaching for snacks, step outside, take deep breaths, drink some H20, or move your body.
